Croydon
Croydon, now a large and very busy London Borough with a population of some 350,000, was little more than a village in early Victorian times. Its most historic building is its Palace, until the mid seventeen hundreds century the summer residence of the archbishops of Canterbury, some of which has been preserved as part of the Old Palace School. The town now features many modern buildings, including the concert halls, art galleries and theatres of Fairfield Hall, built in 1962 and the new twenty storey Town hall. The map
