York
From its origins as a historic
cathedral city, county town of Yorkshire and once important industrial centre, York,
situated on the River Ouse in northern England, has grown to become a favourite among
tourists, who now visit the city each year in great numbers, well catered for by the
numerous hotels, pubs and restaurants of the city. Visitor attractions include the
magnificent York Minster Cathedral, the old Shambles district of the city centre, the Jorvik
