Hawick
Hawick is the
largest town in the former county of Roxburghshire with a population of
approximately 15,000. Situated on the River Teviot in the Scottish
Borders, Hawick's early growth was largely due to its ideal location as
a woollen mill town. It is well-known for its annual Common Riding,
commemorating a victory of local callants over English raiders in the
early sixteenth century. The town is now a popular destination for
visiting tourists and those keen on outdoor sports such as fishing and
